Experts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine spoke about whether a booster dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 should be given if the patient has recently suffered from this disease.
According to the Ministry of Health, the third vaccination should be given in any case, regardless of whether a person has contracted the coronavirus or not.
Even if you get COVID-19 after two doses of the vaccine, you should get a booster shot. Because it protects precisely against a severe course and death due to the coronavirus. Also, the effectiveness of vaccines against the coronavirus disease fades over time. New strains of the virus are also emerging. A booster dose helps restore the effectiveness of the vaccine and prolong protection against severe disease and death from COVID-19
The Ministry of Health also emphasized that special attention should be paid to vaccination of people who are in the so-called risk groups - these are the elderly, people with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, as well as cancer and diabetes. It is they who can have a severe course of the disease, which in turn can even lead to death.
We will remind, at the end of last week, the European Commission approved a vaccine against monkey pox.
